Day 2. Burgos to Hornillos.

Easing into the walk with just 21km over 4 hours. Mostly over open countryside with no shelter. Thankfully starting early meant we covered the first 5km before the sun rose and after that there was a gentle breeze to cool us down. The rhythm of one foot in front of the other is coming back to me and we reached our destination with ease before the heat of the day. Stopped at a little wayside chapel on the way and received a pilgrim blessing and a miraculous medal. Hopefully Our Lady’s intercession prevents blisters. Having arrived in Hornillos on time the plan is to replace lost fluids with something brown and refreshing and then find a hostel bed.

Surprised to meet a group of Derby fans being led through the fields by their new manager.
