Pope Francis has issued a letter for the close of the Year of Mercy.

On the evening of Sunday 20th November, Feast of Christ the King, Bishop Patrick brought to a formal close the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The Friday before, all diocesan schools had gathered for a wonderful celebration to mark their Year of Mercy and on Sunday night, the Cathedral was again full to the rafters for the final Mass of the Jubilee.
In his homily, Bishop Patrick reminded us that even though the Jubilee of Mercy has come
to an end, mercy does not. The Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy should be part of our life every day – not so that we ‘earn’ God’s mercy but so that we open our hearts to receive it and then share it with everyone we meet.
